Carl J. Aycock

Mr. Carl J. Aycock, age 90, of Jonesboro, passed away, December 22, 2009. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. He was a former member of Gordon Street Church and Beecher Hills Baptist Church. He graduated from Tech High School in Atlanta. His hobbies were woodworking and helping others. Mr. Aycock was a proud Veteran of WWII, where he served in Guam and Okinawa. He was instrumental in establishing Senior Centers in Riverdale and the Charlie Griswell Center in Jonesboro. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife; Frances Westmoreland Aycock, daughter and son in law; Donna A. and Art Meares of Grass Valley, CA, son and daughter in law; James Carl and India Aycock of Hampton, GA, sister; Betty Jean Sikes of Lithia Springs, grandchildren; Carmen Kieley, Sarah Banchieri, Cherie Aycock, Lucy Aycock, and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held, Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 2:30 PM at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro Chapel. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Dawson Cemetery in Marietta, GA.
